Couples support (relation d’aide)
Time to understand one another
Support that gives the two of you time to listen and reflect: to express your needs, hear each other out and think things through together, in a caring, confidential and non-judgmental setting.

A space for both of you
Couples support rests on the same foundations as individual relation d’aide — listening, support and reflection — while welcoming both partners into the same session. It aims to create a moment where each person can speak and feel heard, with no winner and no loser.
Sarah-Kim makes sure each of you has room to speak. She doesn’t take sides: her role is to support the conversation and help you put words to what you are experiencing, together and individually.
When might it help?
Couples support can be helpful at many points in a relationship, for example when you:
- feel like certain conversations keep going in circles;
- are going through a new stage or a change (a new baby, a move, a new job, a blended family);
- want to better understand each other’s needs;
- would like to set aside time together to take stock;
- are thinking about the future of your relationship and want to talk about it in a neutral setting.
What happens during a session
Both partners attend the session together. The first meeting is a chance to get acquainted, understand what brings you in and what each of you hopes for, and go over how things work: confidentiality, respecting each person’s pace and how you take turns speaking.
Over the sessions, you choose the topics you want to explore. The process doesn’t decide the future of your relationship for you; it gives you a space to understand each other and reflect together.
Booking a couples appointment
A couples appointment is a single shared appointment that holds one time slot for both of you. The person booking enters their contact details and can invite their partner to receive the appointment information.
Unless the clinic allows both partners to manage it, the person who booked is the one who can reschedule or cancel, at least 24 hours ahead, using their personal link or client area, or by phone at 819-469-7185.
Each partner’s answers stay private
Each partner can fill out their own form. Your answers are visible only to Sarah-Kim: your partner cannot see them, even if they are the one who booked the appointment.
Only shared details, such as the date, time and format of the session, are visible to both of you.
What couples support is not
Couples relation d’aide is neither psychotherapy nor couples therapy. It is also not family mediation or legal advice, and it is not meant to diagnose anything.
If you are experiencing violence or feel unsafe, a couples appointment is not the right starting point. In case of immediate danger, call 911. SOS violence conjugale offers confidential support around the clock at 1-800-363-9010, and 811 (Info-Social) is available for psychosocial support.

Frequently asked questions
Do both partners need to attend?
A couples appointment is planned for both partners together. If only one of you wants to come in, individual supportive counselling is probably a better fit.
Who can reschedule or cancel the appointment?
The person who booked manages the appointment, unless the clinic allows both partners to do so. Either way, please make changes at least 24 hours ahead, online or at 819-469-7185.
Will my partner see my form answers?
No. Each partner’s answers are private and visible only to Sarah-Kim. Booking together does not give either of you access to the other’s answers or history.
Is this couples therapy?
No. Couples relation d’aide offers listening, support and reflection. It is neither psychotherapy nor couples therapy, and it is not meant to diagnose anything.
What if we don’t agree on the future of our relationship?
You can still come in. The process doesn’t make that decision for you: it offers a space where each of you can speak and where you can reflect together, at your own pace.
Can we meet remotely?
Videoconference may be offered depending on the service. The available formats are shown when you book.
